LIVERPOOL SET TO BLAZE THE TRAIL IN THE WINGS

Liverpool are set to blaze the trail in the wings when the season restarts in August.

The club has lacked top class wingers in recent years but the signing of Mohammed Salah for a club record to join an already impressive Sadio Mane is mouth-watering.

Jurgen Klopp has raised the profile of the Reds in recent years. The German tactician needs a silverware to solidify his legacy at Anfield. With the two top wingers, he stands a decent chance.

Last season was marred with inconsistency and injury crises which the team is focused on resolving. The squad still needs a top class central defender, a leftback and if possible a top striker to add. The team was very attack minded but their loopholes in defence exposed and limited them. This makes sorting it out a key dream.

Nonetheless, the addition of Salah is a big one. Mane’s pace has helped in wide areas for the Kop since his arrival from Southampton. In recent years he was a real winger with a difference. Harry Kewell was decent in the role but others like Albert Riera and Stewart Downing failed to excel. Mane is the perfect wide player since John Barnes though Raheem Sterling, Maxi Rodriguez and Luis Garcia tried in the role.

With Salah garnering experience at Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma, he comes to Liverpool with the needed plus. He adds depth to a brilliant quartet in Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Mane.

Salah could start on the right while Mane play from the left wing, providing balance and less work for Firmino who would sit comfortably in the centre. The pair could be the new Ryan Giggs and David Beckham in the wings for Liverpool!
