BESIKTAS TO END KARIUS LOAN

Besiktas have confirmed that on loan Liverpool goalkeeper will return to the club at the end of his two-year loan spell. The Turkish giant have unsurprisingly rejected the chance to sign the German on a permanent deal.

Karius has been with Besiktas since 2018, he left after falling down the pecking order in Anfield. He was dropped by Liverpool after a series of costly mistakes, most notably, his performance in the champions league final against Real Madrid, he was directly responsible for two avoidable goals. He has since been replaced by Allison. The Brazilian has proven to be the final piece of Jurgen Klopp’s side, as they have since won the Champions League and they are on course to end a three decade wait for a maiden premier league title.

Riera Gains Coaching Badges at City

Albert Riera was the former winger of Liverpool and he issued a recent statement about how he supports Philippe Coutinho’s decision to no longer be part of Liverpool team. This he mentioned a few months back when he gave an interview to Goal. Though Liverpool is a big club compared to Camp Nou, Riera feels that it is a good decision to come to Camp Nou where probably individual opportunities are more. Also, as in the case of Coutinho whose performance last season had not been consistent, a move will help him challenge himself and build on his abilities. Riera feels that he is a player who would always be in demand.

Riera is currently completing seasons as a coach and earning coaching badges at Manchester City. He has been a former player of the City and he recently met up with current coaches Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola. The City and its players are currently in a good mood as they train to be ready for the finals of the FA Cup. The players are currently finishing domestic seasons as scheduled for the year.

Albert Riera – a weird career

Albert Riera’s case as a Footballer is pretty weird. He got a break at Liverpool when nobody expected him to. He hadn’t done anything extraordinary to earn that deal, but Rafa Benitez who is known for cracking deals like these landed him at the Merseyside.

Most of the Liverpool supporters when Riera first joined in had no idea who he was. But Riera didn’t take too long to create a good fan-base for himself at Anfield. His performance as a left winger was fantastic throughout his first season as he provided ample support to the offensive line of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres which was one of the main reasons why Liverpool looked as threatening a side as they did. They could have actually gone on to lift the Premiership trophy that season, but sadly they couldn’t and finished 4 points short of the eventual champions United.

FORMER STARS MOVING TO STRANGE PLACES FOR THE GAME

As players age but want to remain active in the game, many have had to move to strange obscure players where they can get the opportunity to continue to ply their trade. There have been many instances where players move to unheard or rarely heard places in football just to stay relevant.

One of the Italian stars of the 2006 World Cup winning team, Gianluca Zambrotta was one that might not be as heard of, despite his contributions. He did almost as much as Fabio Cannavaro, who would go on to win the Best Player Award and he defended like Alessandro Nesta, who received critical acclaim.
