GALA CHASE BERBATOV

The vice president of Galatasaray, Refik Arkan, has said that the club is willing to sign a contract with the Bulgarian striker Dimitar Ivanov Berbatov. Bervatov has been playing for Manchester United since 2008. But, in the last season, he was not given much opportunity to appear in the first team of Manchester United. Recently, Bervatov told the media that he would not like to play for Manchester any more.

Refik said that the club wants a striker of high quality and Bervatov might be the one, but, the final decision hasn’t been taken yet. The manager of the team, faith Terim, would take the final decision. Refik said that the club also wants to have Brazilian midfielder Filipe Melo in the team. Melo played for Galatasaray last year on a loan. As per Refik, Juventus is demanding 13 million Euros for Melo and the club would not be able to pay that much amount. If Melo wants to be associated with Galatasaray, he must have a meeting with the authorities of Juventus and request them to lower their demand. Refik has made it quite clear that if Juventus would not lower its demand for Melo, then the club would have to look for some other player. Meanwhile, Melo has written on his Twitter account that he enjoyed quite a lot while playing for Galatasaray last season. As per Melo, he desperately wants to be a part of Galatasaray permanently.

On being asked about the targets of the club in the upcoming season, Refik said that the club has set some big goals for itself. But, you need to have a good team to put up a strong performance. So, the club is looking to invest some money and buy some good players to strengthen the team.

RIERA FORGIVES MELO

Albert Riera and Felipe Melo come back to training with their club Galatasaray before the Turkish ‘Super Final’ playoffs.

Both these footballers were forgiven by Terim, their coach yesterday, after their feud at the training ground few days back that left Albert Riera with an injured eye.

While speaking to Galatasaray TV, Felipe Melo told that something regrettable took place last week. This is the very first time something like this has happened in his whole football career. He has spoken and apologized to his friend Albert Riera.

Felipe Melo has been overwrought regarding that event. He added that Riera accepted his apology. He stressed that these are unfortunate events but it has also revealed what a tough family they are at the Galatasaray club. His team-mates have spoken to the coach on Melo’s brhalf and the way his team-mates and friends have supported him – it has motivated him even more. Now he will work harder to help his team-mates. Along with Albert Riera, he has also apologized to al the supporters, friends and coach and promised that this won’t happen again.

Felipe Melo has been in superb form for his team; he had dominated the midfield and even scored ten goals in this season.

GALA EXTEND LEAD

Galatasaray managed to extend their lead at the top of the table in the Turkish league with three more points after winning against Besiktas in a tightly fought encounter. Galatasaray were coming into the match against Besiktas in a good run of form. They are currently top of the table a few points ahead of second placed Fenerbahce. However, their match against Besiktas was extremely difficult given that Besiktas are coming into the match as the third placed team in the league. However, two losses in the last five matches have meant that Galatasaray were extremely confident of getting a result against Besiktas.

The match, though, was extremely close, as Besiktas managed to fight off Galatasaray for most of the match. Galatasaray managed to extend their lead after the close 3-2 win over the third placed team. In the process, they inflicted yet another defeat to Besiktas, whose hopes of making it into the title run looks all but over. Former Bolton striker Johan Elmander opened the scoring for Galatasaray, but the league leaders soon found themselves level after İbrahim Toraman’s goal for Besiktas. However, a goal from former Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo helped put Galatasaray ahead in the match, but they were level in the match once again after Semih Kaya’s goal.

Just when it looked like things were going to finish even between the two clubs, Johan Elmander once again scored in the final few minutes of the match to secure a vital win for Galatasaray. This win means that their lead at the top of the table extends to a massive nine points, although Fenerbahce do have the opportunity to close to the gap when they play later. There are only six games left in the season, and Galatasaray are in a great position to lift the title.
