SADIO MANE A MAN ON FIRE

Liverpool defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 clash came as a surprise to many outside England. However, for those that have been following the club in recent weeks, it was no surprise to see Sadio Mane star in the game.

The Senegalese international is in one of the best forms of his life and has stepped up in the second half of the season for the Reds. Considered the main star of Liverpool two seasons ago the arrival of Mohammed Salah last season saw a change of responsibility for the player.

No longer the star player Mane had to contend with his teammate getting the plaudits last season in what was a remarkable year for the Egyptian. But this season Mane has been a different player with his ability to come up big in tricky situations.

After Liverpool drew with Manchester United in the league it was the explosive winger that brought back normal service in the midweek clash at home to Watford. His audacious backheel goal was the highlight of what was a perfect performance from the player. This was a far cry of the days of Albert Riera on the wing as Liverpool have agenuine world class player in their ranks.

The game against Burnley on Sunday was another example of his growing confidence in his abilities. When Burnley looked like pulling an unlikely equalizer in the dying stages of the game the 26-year-old delivered a sucker punch that finished the game.

His first goal against Bayern Munich was sensational as he ghosted into the defence and tricked one of the best goalkeepers in the game in Manuel Neuer. His finish was composed and full of confidence in his ability.

His second goal all but sealed the match with a header close to goal.  Liverpool looks like going far in the Champions League and could win the league. Red fans would be hopeful that the Senegal international continues in his brilliant form.
